Presented by Steve Conrad
Get ready to tap your toes with Steve Conrad and pals! In this fun, movement-based seminar you will learn dances from the 1940s and ‘50s, a period when Swing music was Pop music. These partner dances include East Coast Swing (aka 6-count Lindy Hop), and Collegiate. Traditionally, these dances are paired with Swing music, but these same dance steps can be translated to the surf rock dance floor! No experience necessary, no partner needed. Please wear comfortable shoes.
Steve Conrad, founder and director of the Arizona Lindy Hop Society, has taught dance for over 29 years. He has taught around the world and has been featured on The Bachelorette, House Hunters, and more. He helped lead a program for teaching ballroom dance to people experiencing homelessness and has used dance as a healing modality for children in the foster care system. In 2021, Phoenix Mayor Gallego declared April 29th "Steve Conrad Day" for his contribution to dance and the arts in Phoenix.
